We have been hearing for weeks that British actor Benedict Cumberbatch may be in line to play the title role in Marvel’s Phase Three movie DOCTOR STRANGE, and then everything went a bit quiet… Well, overnight there have been some developments and Marvel have made an official announcement confirming him for the role in the Scott Derrickson directed flick.
“Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity,” said Producer Kevin Feige. “In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”
Cumberbatch is enjoying a successful run at the moment and can currently be seen playing Alan Turing in THE IMITATION GAME, and next week in the final ‘Hobbit’ movie THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES, where he plays the frightening dragon Smaug.
DOCTOR STRANGE will be released on November 6th, 2016.
