GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY star Chris Pratt is in early talks to star alongside Denzel Washington (THE EQUALIZER, 2 GUNS) in MGM’s remake of the 1960 classic Western THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.

The library title, itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s masterpiece SEVEN SAMURAI, was recently revised by John Lee Hancock (THE BLIND SIDE) and by TRUE DETECTIVE creator Nic Pizzolatto, who wrote a previous version. Antoine Fuqua (SOUTHPAW, THE EQUALIZER), who previously acknowledged the influence of spaghetti westerns on his approach to making violent, anti-heroes/gunmen films, is attached to direct.

The latest rework centres upon seven gunmen who come together in the post-Civil War Wild West to help a poor village against a band of savage thieves.

Currently attached to star in the adaption of Andy Lieberman and Riley Rossmo’s graphic novel COWBOY NINJA VIKING, hot property Pratt is being touted to play ‘Farraday’, a character that may or may not be modeled after characters from either original.

The talks will be one of many as the ensemble cast is assembled.

Who would you like to see join the cast in roles previously played by Steve McQueen, Yul Brynner, and Charles Bronson?
