After so long working on the big screen it seems Martin Scorsese has really been bitten by the TV bug. Following an hour long pilot from the Boardwalk Empire team of Scorsese and writer Terence Winter, HBO have opted to make a full series from the as-yet untitled project, co-produced by no less a luminary than Mick Jagger. Starring Empire‘s Bobby Cannavale (pictured) as a washed-up record exec in the 1970s, the drama is sure to be packed to the rafters with quality tunes of the kind we’ve come to associate with the legendary director. And it’s surely a given that the sounds of sex, violence and snorting nostrils will feature as backing tracks.
Winter is showrunner and George Mastras (Breaking Bad) is on also on scripting duties. An impressive supporting cast includes Olivia Wilde, Juno Temple and Cannavale’s BLUE JASMINE co-star/comedian Andrew Dice Clay. The stage is set for the birth of punk and disco with an array of top talent both in front of the mic and behind the mixing desk.
