The case of the ‘will he’ or ‘won’t he’ question continues to be asked in regards to whether Jared Leto will assume the role of the Joker in the upcoming David Ayer movie version of the DC Comic series SUICIDE SQUAD next year. Speculation has been fired up yet again after Leto took part in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, who managed to get confirmation that Leto will return to acting full-time after touring with his extremely successful band Thirty Seconds To Mars; though he wouldn’t say what his first post-Oscar winning [for DALLAS BUYER’S CLUB] job would be.
“I’ve sworn to keep my mouth shut.” He told the trade – and that’s it.
The film is set to shoot in the new year, with a release date set for August 5th, 2016. Other A-listers have been mentioned to be ‘in talks,’ including Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Tom Hardy and Will Smith, though not one of them is officially attached at present. Other rumours suggest that Jesse Eisenberg will appear in the film as Superman’s arch enemy Lex Luthor, reprising his role from the upcoming BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, though again, this is not confirmed.
We’ll keep you posted.
