Hot off the press! HBO have confirmed and finalised their main cast for the second season for the highly anticipated, second season of True Detective.

Back in September, we reported  that Vince Vaughn and Colin Farrell were the first names on-board and now the mighty HBO have added Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, and Kelly Reilly which completes a very intriguing selection of actors for creator Nic Pizzolatto’s second season.

Interestingly, we did wonder if McAdams might be involved also a month or so back and so this is good news for all. The style and story that’s set to come our way isn’t necessarily going to immediately change everyone’s career but if the first season is anything to go by, then it could definitely work for those who are good enough. I’m also a definite fan of different types of actors coming together for something unique and True Detective is a positive place to start.

Kelly Reilly is reportedly taking on a key role as the wife of crime boss Frank Semyon, portrayed by Vince Vaughn. Colin Farrell is corrupt cop Ray Velcoro, who’s got some type of deal going on with Semyon.

Rachel McAdams has been confirmed as Ani Bezzerides, a Ventura County Sheriff’s detective who has questionable ethics (Rust Cohle anyone?) but this put her on the bad side of the people she works with and then there’s Taylor Kitsch playing Paul Woodrugh, a war veteran and officer for the California Highway Patrol who’s trying to escape from a difficult past.

They’ve begun filming in California, with a look towards January for the series two debut. Can we wait? Well, no…but we’ll have to.
