Laura Palmer Will Return To ‘Twin Peaks’ In 2016

Twin Peaks Laura Palmer

She was the small town beauty whose murder galvanized the events of David Lynch and Mark Frost’s surreal small screen odyssey. But is Laura Palmer going to make an appearance in the resurrected Twin Peaks? According to Sheryl Lee, the actress who played her, she will. Ahead of her attending the Twin Peaks UK Festival Lee has issued a statement in response to a British newspaper article which claimed her career was on the slide due to health issues. That typical slice of tabloid negativity has unexpectedly led to the vital nugget of information “Peakies” have been anticipating:

It is better to… read the words I wrote myself than to believe the musings of a thoughtless journalist. Remember……they write to sell papers, not to tell the truth… and according to David Lynch, I WILL be involved in Twin Peaks 2016…

Lee played a dual role in the original series – Palmer in flashback and Maddy Ferguson, Laura’s brunette relative. There was a rumour she was also lined up to feature in the unmade third season, this time as a redhead, so while presumably Lynch and Frost are picking up the strands of Laura’s storyline, the details of Lee’s part may not be set in stone. The pivotal character was last seen in cinematic curate’s egg TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME.

Twin Peaks returns for a limited run on Showtime in 2016. A tie-in book will be released next year.
