Looks like Mark Wahlberg has scored himself another big property. As well as planting hit boot into the TRANSFORMERS series, and the upcoming remake of THE GAMBLER, he will become Steve Austin aka THE SIX-BILLION DOLLAR MAN for director Peter Berg and Universal.
The film is to be based on the 1970’s novel ‘Cyborg’ by Martin Caidin, which of course has already been adapted into a popular TV series from the same decade starring Lee Majors in the lead role. The story will focus on former astronaught Austin, who, following a terrible accident, is fitted with a bionic arm, legs and eye, and then recruited as a government agent for the Office of Scientific Intelligence.
Berg has worked with Wahlberg before, on the rather good survival drama/ actioner LONE SURVIVOR back last year.
