John Lasseter Confirmed For 2017 Release Of ‘Toy Story 4’

Toy Story 4

We’re excited to announce that John Lasseter has been confirmed as director for a June 2017 release of TOY STORY 4!

Although not something completely expected, beyond the previous talk and rumours that have circulated, we first reported Tom Hanks talking about it in 2011, I’ve got mixed feelings on what might happen. However, Pixar haven’t been afraid to continue with the glorious TOY STORY characters in various short films and Halloween specials and I’d never say no to a bit more Buzz, Woody and company…if that’s even the main cast?!

With the amount of characters available, the Disney Pixar folk have a huge canvas of which to work and given that 2017 release date, I’d say they’ve already been working on it for a few years or so already.

UPDATED: We’ve got some official words from Lassester regarding their return:

“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,” said Lasseter. “We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. ‘Toy Story 3’ ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another ‘Toy Story’ movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself.”

Writing team Rashida Jones and Will McCormack joined the project, and Pixar veteran Galyn Susman (ABC’s “Toy Story OF TERROR!” and “Toy Story that Time Forgot”) is producing.

I’m definitely excited. But what do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
