‘Captain Marvel’ Becomes Studio’s First Female Starrer

Captain Marvel

With Marvel Studios unveiling an action-packed roster of eight movies, it’s been revealed that CAPTAIN MARVEL will focus on the Carol Danvers version of the character. This makes it the first film to revolve around a female lead, a long-overdue development for the brand’s expansive Cinematic Universe. Also known as Ms. Marvel, Air Force officer Danvers gained her superpowers after an explosion infused her with alien DNA. She possesses extraordinary levels of physical endurance, speed, can manipulate energy and of course can fly.

It was thought that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow would topline her own release, but it appears Captain Marvel will be out of the gate first, with a release date set of July 6th 2018. Whether further and less testosterone-driven heroes are joining her remains to be seen. Casting has yet to be announced, though from the looks of the ilustration above Yvonne Strahovski could be a perfect fit.
