Out among the usual thrillers being release, there’s always one that turns up unexpectedly to the party and blows the opposition away. Out on 31st October, Dan Gilroy’s NIGHTCRAWLER is looking very special indeed and if what we hear is everything to go by, Jake Gyllenhaal is back with another inspirational turn in the lead role.
Gilroy hasn’t a huge case of work yet, but THE FALL (2006) remains a seminal piece of cinema that is still miles ahead of other works at that time, and even probably now. He was also behind the story for REEL STEEL and wrote the screenplay for THE BOURNE LEGACY, so he’s got a good idea of top notch action.
In NIGHTCRAWLER, Gyllenhaal stars as Louis Bloom, a young man who stumbles upon the underground world of L.A. freelance crime journalism and let’s say, he really gets into the part. From what I can tell, this one has a lot of twists and messed up turns to come, with hints of Patrick Bateman, Tyler Durden and even Ryan Gosling’s ‘The Driver‘.
If you want to get involved on the viral side of things, then check out his Twitter profile: LouBloomVPN which was found by many after the Observer had a small advert placed in it – which is a British Sunday newspaper for those who don’t know! Look:
You can also check out a lot of love over on the Facebook page, which is here, and I’ve added in a few of Lou’s ‘rules’ that you’ll need to follow to be successful…
NIGHTCRAWLER opens in the UK on 31st October, book now!
Dan loves writing, film, music and photography. Originally from Devon, he did London for 4 years and now resides in Exeter. He also has a mild obsession with squirrels and cake. The latter being more of a hobby. Favourite movies include HIGH FIDELITY, ALMOST FAMOUS, ROXANNE, GOOD WILL HUNTING, JURASSIC PARK, too many Steve Martin films and Nolan's BATMAN universe.
