Well, this is strange. Just 12 years after the release of Eli Roth’s debut movie CABIN FEVER, it seems that it is getting the remake treatment by INTRUDER director Travis Zariwny. Roth himself is behind the film, and will serve as executive producer.
CABIN FEVER was a low budget horror movie set around a group of teenagers who head to a cabin in the woods. While there, they gradually succumb to a mysterious flesh-eating virus. Obviously there are parallels between this and similarly themed efforts including THE EVIL DEAD and even THE LAST HOUSE OF THE LEFT.
It seems that there is some logic behind remaking the film though, as Roth explains.
“Travis had an amazing vision for my original script, and as a scary movie fan I really wanted to see it. I almost see this like re-staging a play, and I’m excited to see what ideas Travis and the cast bring to it. They’re all fans of the original and want to make a film that’s a new classic and I believe they will”.
Shooting kicks off this week. Gage Golightly, Dustin Ingram, Samuel Davis and Nadine Crocker will star in the film, which will be released sometime in 2015.
