Hollywood legend Robert Redford is said to be in talks to join the remake of the Classic Walt Disney Pictures film PETE’S DRAGON. The Hollywood Reporter delivered the news via their website earlier stating that Redford will assume the role of local storyteller who delivers tall stories of mystical dragons that people really don’t believe exist.
The remake of the 1977 original is being brought to the screen by director David Lowery, who helmed last year’s AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS. Playing the title character of Pete, the boy who is brought up by a bright green dragon in the middle of a forest, will be Boardwalk Empire star Oakes Fegley. Oona Laurence will play a character named Natalie in the film, a girl who befriends Pete.
The new version will be a CGI/ live-action hybrid and will start shooting later this year down in New Zealand.
