Ewan McGregor And More Added To Doctor Strange Shortlist

jl

The epic casting for DOCTOR STRANGE  continues for Marvel after Joaquin Phoenix exited negotiations. The film which is all pencilled in for a 2016 release has yet to find its leading man. Pretty much every actor in Hollywood has been linked to the project at one point or another though Variety is reporting that the latest line-up may very well contain ‘the’ Doctor Strange.

The current short-list includes Jared Leto, whose name has long been linked with the actor/singer actively campaigning for the role, as well as Ewan McGregor, Oscar Issacs, Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke and Jake Gyllenhaal. The latter likes the idea of playing a hero after all the ‘gloomy’ projects he’s been a part of recently,  McConaughey seems unlikely given how busy he has become. Marvel known for signing its cast members for multiple films when would the INTERSTELLAR actor have the time? Issacs too seems like a long shot we still don’t know the longevity of his STAR WARS character, though he is the closest visually to Phoenix. It would be lovely to see either Hawke or McGregor tackle the high profile role as both actors have been a little quiet for a while now.

Hopefully Marvel will lock down their man very soon, if not they might have to completely re-think whether Doctor Strange really has to be male…
