83 Foreign Language Films Put Forward For Oscars

Sea FogWe’ll soon see a plethora of lists dictating the “Best of…” the year etc. as we push forward towards 2015, and it’s sad that you can almost predict what those films will be. However, one list that can always throw up surprises and new discoveries is the list of films put forward for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It’s once again a diverse bunch, and this year there are a record breaking 83 films put forward. Representing the UK is the Turkish language LITTLE HAPPINESS directed by Nihat Seven. Personally I’d love to see a World Cup style award ceremony where these 83 films just battle it out between themselves. The OScar nominations are announced on Thursday, 15th January 2015, with the awards taking place on 22nd February.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
