‘Thrill Ride’ Brings A Comedy Slasher To Fox

cohenobrien20th Century Fox have just picked up a comedy slasher with the title THRILL RIDE after a pitch from Brendan O’Brien and Andrew Jay Cohen, the writers behind NEIGHBORS (BAD NEIGHBOURS here in the UK). The pair will also make this their directorial debut with the horror comedy, but won’t be supplying the script themselves. That job goes to Peter Warren.

The film will see a senior high school class visit an amusement park at the end of a semester, only for people to end up dead. As well as directing, O’Brien and Cohen will produce along with Chernin Entertainment. This won’t be the first time Fox has produced a comedy slasher, as they had a hand in Broken Lizard’s extremely underrated CLUB DREAD back in 2004. Fox will certainly be hoping for some better returns this time around though, as CLUB DREAD only managed $5,000,000 domestically.

Horror comedies are a growing breed at the moment, with the a large amount of films screened at this year’s FrightFest having a comedic edge, including DEAD SNOW 2, LIFE AFTER BETH, HOUSEBOUND, and BAD MILO.
