Terminator Genisys Will Probably Be Rated PG-13

Terminator

That title confirms your worst fears. It seems that it has been confirmed that the fifth movie in the TERMINATOR franchise, TERMINATOR GENISYS, will be a PG-13 (most likely a 12A in the UK). This is all according to a quote from star Jai Courtney over on The Arnold Fans who had this to say:

“I would love to see it be rated R, but I don’t think it will. I think in this day & age, it’s much more likely to be PG-13. There were no f-bombs. But there’ll be a healthy amount of movie violence.”

That sucks a bit. Right? Of course, the studio are going to want to go after as much money as they can, and the ‘teen’ market is where its at, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a sneaky R-rated version being constructed for the home entertainment release.

Anyway, in another interview with The Huffington Post, Courtney also revealed a bit around the film’s plot. It seems it won’t be a sequel OR a reboot.

“What I can say is that we start in a place we’re familiar with from the early films and then, you know, circumstances change. It somewhat shifts the course of events from that point. It’s not necessarily a sequel or a reboot. I don’t even know how you brand it correctly. We’re not remaking one of the early Terminator movies. And it doesn’t necessarily carry on from the point where we left off.”

We’ll bring you more as we get it. TERMINATOR GENISYS will release next summer (July 1st). Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, and Dayo Okeniyi also star. Alan Taylor (THOR: THE DARK WORLD) directs.
