Robert Downey Jr. Officially Negotiating His Return For ‘Iron Man 4’

Ever since Marvel began their interconnecting movie universe in 2008 with IRON MAN, Robert Downey Jr. has remained an integral selling point to franchise as its number one star. Downey’s portrayal of the wise-cracking playboy transformed into redemption-seeking superhero, has gripped audiences worldwide and secured his place among the greatest movie icons in cinematic history.

After completing his trilogy with the billion dollar hit that was IRON MAN 3, Downey re-negotiated his contract with Marvel Studios allowing him to return for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON and a currently untitled third AVENGERS film. Although this was music to the ears of fans across the globe, the biggest question has always been whether or not Marvel could reel him in for a fourth solo IRON MAN outing. Well…after countless hints and teases from Downey, the man himself has finally confirmed that he is indeed in negotiations to return for the previously unannounced IRON MAN 4! In a brand new interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Downey confirms the exciting news which will surely delight his legion of fans. Although this is far from a confirmation that he will star in the film, this certainly seems like a good start. You can check out the video below:

Whatever ends up happening with the fourth IRON MAN movie and Robert Downey Jr.’s Marvel contract, it seems that there are many different discussions currently going on under Disney’s roof regarding the future of their costumed characters. Between the potential GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY/AVENGERS crossover, SPIDER-MAN possibly coming on board and IRON MAN 4 actually happening, Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could be its best one yet!
