Having Colin Firth and Jude Law starring in your movie surely fulfills a quota for requisite manliness. But for his upcoming film GENIUS Michael Grandage is throwing Guy Pearce and Dominic West into the mix for a true story of literary giants and their personal turmoil. Pearce is playing The Great Gatsby writer F.Scott Fitzgerald and West takes on the mantle of tough guy author Ernest Hemingway (The Old Man And The Sea).
The pair enjoyed quite a friendship, but the focus of John Logan’s script is Max Perkins (Firth), arguably the world’s most influential book editor and his relationship with Thomas Wolfe (Law). It’s adapted from 1978’s Max Perkins: Editor Of Genius by A.Scott Berg. This all sounds very blokey, but Grandage is also delivering on the actress front, casting Nicole Kidman and Laura Linney in supporting roles. Tim Bevan is executive producer.
