It looks like THE ROSIE PROJECT film, based on the debut novel by Graeme Simsion (and the script he wrote before turning it into said novel), might be getting closer to fruition, as Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are reportedly circling the project.
The pair, who have previously worked together on THE LEGO MOVIE, 21 JUMP STREET and 22 JUMP STREET are currently developing the book with a view to direct. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who wrote the screenplay for another adaptation, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, are in line to write the script.
The Rosie Project follows genetics professor Don who looks at life a little differently to most people. When he decides it is time to find a wife, he starts compiling the ultimate questionnaire to make sure he finds the best candidate – that is, until he meets Rosie, a woman who is wrong in every way but might just be perfect for him.
The book was a break-out success across the world and has sold over a million copies to date worldwide. The eagerly-awaited sequel The Rosie Effect is out this week (25th September) so there is plenty of scope for a sequel if all goes well with the first film adaptation.
