He’s going to be a busy boy, that Roberto Orci. The Mexico-born screenwriter of TRANSFORMERS, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 and STAR TREK, has reportedly quit working on the planned POWER RANGERS movie.
The reasons behind Orci’s departure from executive producing the film and working on the screenplay alongside Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, is due to his commitments on writing and directing the third film in the current STAR TREK series of movies, which is due in 2013. The official reason for the jumping of ship is due to ‘scheduling conflicts.’ The POWER RANGERS movie is also due out in 2016; July 22nd, 2016 to be exact.
Orci takes over helming duties on STAR TREK 3 from J.J. Abrams, who is currently hard at work on STAR WARS: EPISODE VII over at Disney.
