She might be filming new drama BY THE SEA with husband Brad Pitt, but Angelina Jolie looks set to be heading back to the biopic for her next project. It has been revealed that she has signed up to direct a biopic about paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey.
Titled AFRICA, the movie tells the story of Kenyan born Leakey, who originally followed his parents footsteps in fossil hunting, then turning his attention to help combat rhino and elephant poaching. The script is written by FORREST GUMP scribe Eric Roth, and has been described as a ‘sweeping epic’.
Jolie had this to say about joining this project:
“I’ve felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life, and responded immediately to Eric’s beautiful script about a man drawn into a violent conflict that leads him to discover his own profound connection to that same place and people.”
Of course we all know this is not Jolie’s first time heading into a biopic. Her next release UNBROKEN tells the story of olympic runner Louis Zamperini, and if that trailer is anything to go by, we are definitely not upset about Jolie coming back to a real life story.
UNBROKEN is set to be released Christmas Day in the US and Boxing Day in the UK.
