We all know that film distribution and how we comsume entertainment is changing, and at the forfront of that evolution is Netflix. The streaming service is bringing some pretty interesting content to screens over the coming months, with VIRUNGA being one of the most interesting.

The film follows an embattled team of park rangers at Virunga National Park, home to the last of the planet’s 800 mountain gorillas, as they work to fend off encroaching forces of industry, poaching, corruption and war. The award-winning film debuted at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival, earning a nomination as Best Documentary Feature, and was named Audience Favorite at Hot Docs Film Festival and Best of Fest at AFI Docs, among other awards.

From the forested depths of the African Congo, among the last of the mountain gorillas comes Virunga, an incredible true story of idealistic conservationists, armed militia, and the struggle to control Congo’s rich natural resources. A new Netflix Original Documentary, Virunga details the brave people risking their lives to build a better future in a part of Africa long since forgotten. In the Virunga National Park, life flourishes with lush plant and wildlife — and it’s a battleground for rogue soldiers, opportunistic poachers, and a small band of embattled park rangers, the last line of defense to protect the heart and soul of the Eastern Congo.

VIRUNGA will debut everywhere where Netflix operates on the 7th November. Watch the interesting new trailer below.
