Hitting cinemas in the UK and the USA on the 26th September, THE EQUALIZER sees Denzel Washington play Robert McCall, a role made famous by the late, great Edward Woodward in the superb 1980s original series of the same name. Updating the story for and directing for a modern audience is acclaimed filmmaker Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY), while Robert Wenk (16 BLOCKS) tackles the screenplay.
Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall’s desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.
The film also stars Marton Csokas, David Harbour, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo. We have a THN exclusive featurette for the film, entitled “Not What They Seem” below, which features includes previously unseen footage. For more on THE EQUALIZER, please hit the links.
