Like many, Pixar are one of my modern favourite animation studios and, quite frankly, I don’t think they’ve done anything that I don’t utterly love and on repeat viewings. If you somehow missed their last short film, PAPERMAN, then you’re missing out and so go watch it here…but WAIT, before you head there you should check out this all-new incredibly up-beat exploding mountain adventure that is, LAVA.
LAVA is described as being ‘Inspired by the isolated beauty of tropical islands and the explosive allure of ocean volcanoes. It’s a musical love story that takes place over millions of years.‘ Although this is just a sneak peek, you immediately get that unique Pixar sense of individuality and the stunningly specific attention to detail.
It’s directed by James Ford Murphy (An animator on a number of their previous works) and is set to screen before Pixar’s upcoming original tale INSIDE OUT. Featuring the new voices of Kuana Torres Kahele, and Napua Greig, have a watch below:
You’ll get to see LAVA in its entirety in 2015.
