Zach Galifianakis And Louis C.K. Bring ‘Baskets’ To FX

Zach Galifianakis Louis C.K.

Two forces of a comedic nature are coming together to form what will hopefully be a bearded twister of hilarity for Baskets. Bungler of distinction Zach Galifianakis and innovative stand up Louis C.K. created the show with Portlandia writer Jonathan Krisel and following a pilot FX have given the green light for ten episodes. Galifianakis takes the lead as Chip Baskets, a man who is determined to be a clown at all costs.

Pig Newton, C.K.’s production company, are bringing this colourful and no doubt calamitous saga to the small screen. The pie-fingered comedian recently inked a deal with the channel that will see him impart his expertise to other creative types as they develop their concepts. C.K. is very much a one man operation so it’ll be interesting to see how that translates to a corporate hierarchy. It says something perhaps that Baskets is the story of an incredibly silly man going against the grain. Eric Schrier of FX is understandably enthused about the forthcoming project:

To say Zach’s portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique/riveting/fascinating would be an understatement. We can’t wait for the world to meet him.

The walk on the wild side in enormous shoes commences in 2016.
