Let’s get one thing clear very quickly, I use ‘entertaining’ in that very Hugh Grant sense of TWO WEEKS NOTICE, which is a ridiculously silly rom-com but perfect fodder for Grant’s more direct, British sensibilities and quite enjoyable. You know what I’m saying, so if you’re not a fan of Grant then turn away now but if you like his modest foppishness and comedic timing, then you’ll definitely like this first look at THE REWRITE in which he teams up with Marisa Tomei for some relationship discovery and self-learning…it’s how these things work.
Written and directed by Marc Lawrence, of MISS CONGENIALITY and the aforementioned TWO WEEKS NOTICE, this new one stars Hugh Grant as screenwriter Keith Michaels, a once successful, Golden Globe winner with a hit movie to his name but that was fifteen years ago and now he’s divorced, broke, approaching fifty and hasn’t written a hit film in years.
Luckily, his agent has a job for him – a university in the quiet town of Binghamton is looking for someone to teach a course in screenwriting…watch the trailer and check out the impressive cast and release details below!
THE REWRITE co-stars Allison Janney, J.K. Simmons, Chris Elliott, and Bella Heathcote. It opens in the UK on October 8th.
Dan loves writing, film, music and photography. Originally from Devon, he did London for 4 years and now resides in Exeter. He also has a mild obsession with squirrels and cake. The latter being more of a hobby. Favourite movies include HIGH FIDELITY, ALMOST FAMOUS, ROXANNE, GOOD WILL HUNTING, JURASSIC PARK, too many Steve Martin films and Nolan's BATMAN universe.
