Top Five Funniest Movies Of 2014 So Far

We’re over half way through the year now and the end of the summer is upon us, but rather than feeling down while those nights draw in, and the days become shorter, we thought we’d recap our favourite five funny movies of the year to cheer you up. So, get your chin up and take a look at our top five of 2014 so far.

5. THE MUPPETS MOST WANTED

muppets 2

It may not have done as well as its predecessor, but James Bobin’s hilarious Muppet movie sequel MUPPETS MOST WANTED gave us a chuckle or ten when it was released in cinemas back in March. Now available on DVD and Blu-Ray, as well as digital download, the Ricky Gervais, Miss Piggy and Kermit starrer is definitely one to see if you’re a fan of our furry friends.

4. BAD NEIGHBOURS

Bad Neighbours

This Seth Rogen and Zac Efron starrer came out of nowhere to wow us earlier in the year. BAD NEIGHBOURS, or simply NEIGHBORS if you live outside of the UK, features a ton of side splitting, gross-out gags as we see ageing parents Rogen and Rose Byrne going slightly insane as a college fraternity, led by Efron and a superb Dave Franco, move in next door. BAD NEIGHBOURS is due for a UK home entertainment release on 8th September.

3. THE INBETWEENERS 2

The first film grossed more that £40 million at the UK box-office back in 2011, and grossed us out (in a good way) almost as much. THE INBETWEENERS 2 had to go some to match that, but following very positive reviews and a massive UK fanbase, the sequel looks like it may go on to beat the first movie in terms of box-office success, and fan acclaim. The film, based on the TV series of the same name, sees the four boys venture to Australia to find themselves on the ultimate gap year trip. The Inbetweeners sequel is now playing in UK cinemas.

2. THE LEGO MOVIE

Who would have thought that a film about Lego could be our second favourite film of 2014 so far? Well, here it is almost at the top of our chart. The film follows Emmett, a normal Lego construction worker who could just be the ‘special one,’ and the key to saving the entire LEGO universe! Featuring the voices of Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Elizabeth Banks and Will Arnett, the film took a massive $460 million around the world, and became one of the biggest hits of the years. It is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

1. 22 JUMP STREET

22 Jump Street Review

Our number one funny movie of the year so far is the brilliant, bromantic 22 JUMP STREET. Based on the TV series 21 Jump Street, and the sequel to the brilliant 2012 spin-off, 22 JUMP STREET sees Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill play a couple of rookie cops who are forced to go deep undercover to infultrate a drugs operation on a college campus. 22 JUMP STREET will be released on the home entertainment formats later in the year.
