The well-received British film, ’71 now has a trailer showcasing its rising star, Jack O’Connell.
’71 premiered back in February at the Berlin International Film Festival. Directed by Yann Demange, it follows the story of a young British soldier, Gary (Jack O’Connell) sent to Northern Ireland at the height of the Troubles in 1971. During a riot in Belfast, he finds himself separated from his unit.
The trailer promises powerful stuff. You can view it below:
You can catch ’71 in UK cinemas from October and at the New York Film Festival in September. It also stars Sean Harris, Sam Reid, Paul Anderson, Charlie Murphy, David Wilmot and Shea Jackson, and is funded by the BFI, Film4, Creative Scotland and Screen Yorkshire.

Claire Joanne Huxham comes from the south-west, where the cider flows free and the air smells of manure. She teaches A-level English by day and fights crime by night. When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
