John Slattery To Return As Howard Stark In ‘Ant-Man’

Ant-Man.

Marvel Studios’ ANT-MAN has finally begun filming this week, and so we can finally breathe a sigh of relief that Paul Rudd’s pint-sized hero will be coming to cinema screens in just under a year. After numerous production alterations on both sides of the camera, Marvel have now released a full cast list for Peyton Reed’s ANT-MAN, which contains a couple of unexpected surprises. You can check out the full list below, which reveals the exciting additions of Judy Greer, Wood Harris and T.I.

‘Set for release in the United States on July 17, 2015, the film is directed by Peyton Reed and stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang aka Ant-Man, and Michael Douglas as his mentor Dr. Hank Pym and Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym.

The film also includes outstanding additional cast including Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer , David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, John Slattery  and Gregg Turkington and multi-hyphenate T.I.

Although every new name on the list is intriguing, the most exciting and unexpected entry is no doubt the return of John Slattery as the elder Howard Stark (previously seen in IRON MAN 2). Slattery’s character is not officially named as Stark, but based on Marvel’s strict continuity within their cinematic universe, it’s doubtful they would re-cast him as a different character. This also adds weight to a recent rumour, claiming that the films opening 60’s-set sequence  will include cameo’s from characters such as Peggy Carter and Arnim Zola. While it’s unknown if other characters are secretly set to appear, Slattery’s return is yet another fantastic bit of continuity and universe expansion from Marvel that will wonderfully cement ANT-MAN’s place within their cinematic universe.
