Doug Liman’s summer offering EDGE OF TOMORROW has had some trouble locking down a name. The project, which is based on story All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, was originally titled ALL YOU NEED IS KILL. This was then changed before cinematic release to EDGE OF TOMORROW. Now is seems that they still aren’t happy with the name and have sneakily changed it again without actually changing it.
Confused? Remember the poster tagline Live, Die, Repeat? It was catchy wasn’t it? So catchy in fact that the film has now been re-branded as such. Well kind of. As you can clearly see from the packaging below the memorable slogan features all too prominetly, with the title coming at the very bottom, even after Emily Blunt and Tom Cruise’s names.
Is this a design oversight or are the studios hoping to trick people into re-watching the film thinking it’s new? Just don’t forget to use the right name on your letter to Santa.
