R.I.P To The Legendary Robin Williams 1951 – 2014

Robin Williams

We are extremely saddened to report that, in some deeply heart-breaking news, the legendary Robin Williams has passed away. The talented Academy Award-winning actor and comedian was said to be ‘battling severe depression’, according to his publicist. Williams’ death is suspected to be suicide, although more details are expected to follow after a full investigation has taken place.

It is always extremely difficult to report the passing of such a beloved star well before their time, and also under such sad circumstances. However, in these tragic situations it is always best not to dwell on the death of a legend, but to remember the reasons they became one. Williams was a true screen icon who touched the lives of billions across the entire globe, in a fantastic career that spanned over three decades. The versatile actor was incredibly special to three generations of the movie going public, who each hold many dear memories of the man in at least one of his many acclaimed and outstanding film personas.

As an actor with a multitude of iconic roles under his belt, Williams had the amazing ability to reach out to every imaginable demographic in some shape or form. Personally as a child of the nineties, Williams holds a very special place in my heart as the star of films such as HOOK, ALADDIN, MRS. DOUBTFIRE and JUMANJI. Of course, there was also the awe-inspiring Sean in GOOD WILL HUNTING, the part that finally won Williams an Oscar in Gus Van Sant’s film. He also made an indelible mark with unforgettable parts in GOOD MORNING VIETNAM, THE FISHER KING, DEAD POETS SOCIETY (O Captain, my Captain!), INSOMNIA, ONE HOUR PHOTO  and Mork and Mindy to just mention a few.

Here’s some great memories of Williams as a selection of his famous characters:
