New Cast Members Join Jack Black & Tim Robbins In ‘The Brink’

Bernard White

HBO have got a new comedy show in the works and it has just added a few more cast members to the mix; Jaimie Alexander and Bernard White will join Jack Black and Tim Robbins in the shows’ main roles. The Brink, a half-hour comedy series tipped to be released by the end of the year, will be a humorous slant on the scramble to prevent geopolitical crisis as World War III looms ever closer.

Doesn’t sound that funny to us either but there’s several reasons we’re remaining optimistic. Firstly, the script is being written by seasoned writer/producer Roberto Benabib and his brother Kim, the former with credits including Ally McBeal and Weeds. Secondly, on board directing is Jay Roach who makes his first foray into directing a TV series after movies such as AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME, MEET THE PARENTS and THE CAMPAIGN.

The cast is also shaping up nicely. It’s been too long since we’ve seen Jack Black on our screens and as lowly Foreign Service officer Alex Coppins, he will lead alongside Tim Robbins’ U.S. Secretary of State, Walter Hollander. The balance between Black’s intuitive comedic timing and Robbins’ gravitas should allow for some great chemistry in that relationship. Jaimie Alexander comes on board as Gail Sweet, a public affairs officer on an aircraft carrier and Bernard White will play General Haroon Raja, the head of the ISI; an unpredictable, jealous and intelligent man with a drive to rule Pakistan. Jaimie Alexander is most likely jogging your memories as the warrior Sif from THOR and its’ sequel and Bernard White is a veteran of movie roles including parts in THE MATRIX RELOADED and THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS.

The Brink is due to hit US screens later this year and hopefully UK screens at some point too!
