After nearly hitting the skids on Mars in JOHN CARTER, actor Taylor Kitsch’s star is on the rise again with reports that he is top choice to lead a remake of Indonesian actioner THE RAID. The taut, martial arts-heavy original about a SWAT team fighting their way out of a dodgy tower block detonated the box office and it was only a matter of time before someone decided we needed to see exactly the same thing only in English. Screen Gems are teaming with source material producers XYZ Films and EXPENDABLES 3 director Patrick Hughes will orchestrate the mayhem. After megaphoning duties involving Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mel Gibson THE RAID USA should be a stroll in the bunny-laden park for him.
Kitsch is also in the frame for True Detective Season 2, following news of Vince Vaughn’s potential casting, so the next few months could be very busy and indeed varied for him. He was recently seen in HBO drama The Normal Heart opposite Mark Ruffalo and Julia Roberts.
