I’ve been watching this story of the GHOSTBUSTERS reboot with interest and not just because I still don’t see the need for a GHOSTBUSTERS 3 but moreso the bizarre (over) reaction by the less intelligent after the suggestion that they may go with an all-female lead cast this time.
Frankly, I don’t care if it’s a male or female cast to take this franchise on, I’m more worried about the point of it all. Why not just start again with a film from that universe, rather than all this ‘on and off’ stuff that’s been going on for countless years. After all, as much as I love GHOSTBUSTERS 2 for nostalgic reasons, it’s not on the level of the first one so the cast probably doesn’t matter at this point.
BREAKING! The best news is just filtering through and it’s that this ISN’T a continuation of those previous two films and will – in fact – be an all-new story and script with direction from THE HEAT and BRIDESMAIDS’ Paul Feig. This sounds like the best plan doesn’t it? Especially with the sad passing of Harold Ramis and the fact that Bill Murray doesn’t want a part of it, but I have a feeling they could coax Ernie Hudson or Dan Ackroyd into a cameo, the latter especially loves a good one.
What I like about this is the amount of talent we’ve got at the moment. There’s endless female comic possibilities that include the likes of Tina Fey, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Sandra Bullock, Anna Kenrick, Rebel Wilson…I could go on for ages!
We’d also say these rumours and discussions are very true because Paul has been retweeting things like this, bring it on:
Ghostbusters 3 with an all female cast & @paulfeig directing sounds great! Kick it up another notch and add these 2 pic.twitter.com/F1cUiuUpyu
