‘Sharknado 2’ Takes Chunk Out Of The Ratings

Sharknado The Second One

Remember SNAKES ON A PLANE? The movie whose ridiculousness was picked up on mid-production and which became a fleeting sensation across the internet? The studio ended up altering dialogue in order to please the growing number of fans for a film that hadn’t come out yet. When it did, the box office underwhelmed. However, SyFy have found a more effective way of launching Grade A garbage on the small screen, as the premiere of Sharknado 2: The Second One garnered 3.9 million viewers, the most the channel has ever had for an original feature. Can a story about a freak weather condition chock full of sharks be called original? Thinking about it, I guess it could!

Starring THE BIG LEBOWSKI’s Tara Reid, the sequel also drew blood on social media, with 581,000 Tweets under its dorsal fin. Celebrities weighed in on the subject, consolidating the franchise as a true phenomenon. Here’s a couple from PERCY JACKSON actress Alexandra Daddario…

A sentiment she may come to regret if her career ever jumps the shark. Unsurprisingly Part 3 is already in development, so this ultimate manifestation of the straight-to-DVD creature feature is set to run and run. Or at least swim a bit. For myself, I’ve decided I’m in the wrong business and am concocting my own sub-JAWS effort. Sharkgloo 2 (I’m not shilly-shallying with a first part) sees the world’s hottest all female ice hockey team trapped inside a giant igloo, one that just so happens to contain dozens of deep frozen Great Whites! What will happen when the sun comes up and the cold stuff melts…? They may have to drop out of the Winter Olympics, I’ll tell you that much!

If you get to know Alexandra more, she is sassy and sarcastic at times. She might have said that she was interested to do the sequel even a cameo role, but I’m more than sure her tweets were “fictional”. Far from being serious.

Yes I thought they were funny, that’s why I included them. From what I can see she doesn’t need an appearance in Sharknado!
