Simon Pegg Only Lending His Voice To ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’?

Simon Pegg Comic Con

With anticipation for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII already at fever pitch, it’s both upsetting and aggravating to know that we still have almost a year and half to wait until its release. However, until that fateful day that we are once again treated to a trip to a galaxy far, far away, we will have to take what ever we can get.

With J.J. Abrams’ well known habit of working with familiar actors, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive with speculation that Simon Pegg may have a small role to play. After working together on MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III, STAR TREK and STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS, it seems entirely plausible that the two may re-team for Science Fiction’s most highly anticipated sequel of all time. Now however, Pegg has hinted that he may have an unseen role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, possibly utilising his voice only. Check it out below:

‘Well, J.J. uses me in different roles, and we’re good friends. I feel like my face in Star Wars would pop people out of the movie. Look, I love Star Wars, and I don’t want people to watch and go, Oh, there’s Simon Pegg’s face. The film is cleverly cast with these amazing, unknown actors’.

‘[Smiles.] Of course I visited the set. It’s amazing, and I love Star Wars. I want to see everything happening. It looks wonderful, and you need to believe those characters. Any type of stunt casting might just pop you out of the movie’.

This certainly seems to confirm the suspicions that the SHAUN OF THE DEAD star is somehow involved in the film, however it seems like it may be a slight Easter egg hunt when it comes to actually finding him. I think at this point we should assume that he has a small role in STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, especially after Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed it at SDCC. And on top of that, any fellow Spaced fans will know how cruel it would be for Abrams not to offer him a cameo at the very least.

Check back with THN for any updates on STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and Simon Pegg’s (potential) role in the film!
