Jamie Foxx is about to put his boxing gloves on and step up on to the ring, as it has been confirmed the DJANGO UNCHAINED actor is in talks to play former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.
Having already won an Oscar for his critically acclaimed portrayal of Ray Charles in RAY, it has been revealed by Tyson himself that Foxx will portray the boxer in a biopic of his life. Tyson is considered one of the best heavyweights of all time, but has had his substantial share of controversy, especially his conviction of rape of an 18 year-old girl in 1991. During his three year stint in prison he converted to Islam, and later in 2003 he suffered financially and filed for bankruptcy. What is mainly interesting about this project is that the amazing CGI that was used in THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON may be used similarly in the film to show Tyson’s different stages in his life.
No director is attached to the project as of yet, and there is no telling what parts of Tyson’s life will be explored, but as it will be written by WOLF OF WALL STREET’s Terence Winter it’s safe to say the script is in safe hands.
