So far we’ve only had a real look at Disney’s version of Stephen Sondheim’s INTO THE WOODS via that very early shot of Meryl Streep as the Witch and a slight controversy when it was announced that parts from the original have been rewritten, or will be approached differently.
Saying that, those parts have actually been taken on by Sondheim himself with some major events changed and rumours of a new song instead – if you know the play then click here for full info! Co-written by James Lapine, INTO THE WOODS is actually one of the few musicals I know well and although I’m also a bit confused by the changes, this is Disney and so although it will be dark, I’m guessing they can’t make it too excessively morbid without losing a huge target audience.
Anyway, as I’m digressing, today we’ve got a whole host of new shots from the mighty twisted fairy-tale and eager to show you folk what to expect. Check them out below:
INTO THE WOODS stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Frances De La Tour, and Simon Russell Beale with direction by Rob Marshall.
It’ll open on Christmas Day in the USA and 9th January 2015 in the UK.
