Robbie Amell And Wentworth Miller Join ‘The Flash’

The Flash Firestorm

The upcoming third season of The CW’s Arrow and its spin-off series The Flash, are both receiving quite a bit of positive buzz in the lead-up to their season premiere’s this fall. Between the excellent cast, writers and visual effects for The Flash (not to mention the planned crossover with Arrow), it’s looking very likely that Warner Bros. have another hit show on their hands.

Now it’s been revealed that the freshman superhero series has made two more excellent additions to its already-fantastic cast. Both Robbie Amell (The Tomorrow People) and Wentworth Miller (Prison Break, RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE) have joined The Flash as two more DC Comics characters with extraordinary abilities. If Robbie Amell sounds familiar to you, it might be because he is the real life cousin of Arrow star Stephen Amell (which dare I say may have helped him nab the part). He played the lead role in the CW’s late Tomorrow People, which lasted a single season before being (sadly) cancelled. Amell will be playing the part of DC Comics character Ronnie Raymond/Firestorm, a young man caught in the same accident that created The Flash, which subsequently traps his friends mind within his own whilst also granting him (you guessed it) fire powers. The character will first appear in the show’s third episode, before becoming a recurring role throughout the series. You can check out what executive producer Greg Berlanti had to say on the casting below:

‘[Producers] Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and myself designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) — and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting. We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out’.

Amell himself also expressed his joy at the casting below:

‘Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can’t wait to get started’.

Miller on the other hand will be very familiar to television fans after he starred in Fox’s Prison Break for four years prior to its cancellation. The fantastic actor will be taking on the villainous role of Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, a character comic fans will recognise as a longtime antagonist to The Flash. Miller will make his first appearance on The Flash in the fourth episode, which is also set to guest star Arrow’s Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoke. There are definitely very exiting things happening for The CW’s budding DC television universe, with some awesome casting additions and some exciting crossover’s coming our way. It’s certainly a great time to be a geek!
