The closest to TV Terry Gilliam got post-Monty Python was a suggestion that his abortive WATCHMEN adaptation could be made as a miniseries. Now a Gilliam movie is about to be reworked on the small screen without him and you can see the trailer for it right here.

Aaron Stanford (X-MEN) will take the role of a man sent back from a devastated Earth to prevent the spread of the virus that felled humanity. Tracing the cause back to True Blood‘s Željko Ivanek (pictured in the video thumbnail), he sets about undoing chronology with the help of Pretty Little Liars star Amanda Schull.
Who knows what Mr Gilliam makes of Syfy’s take on the property – while the basic premise is sound for a gripping narrative, the end result appears to lack the humour and tone of the original film. Whether this gaggle of primates will be heading for the Emmys or off the edge of a cliff remains to be seen. The madness begins in January.
