Cranston Goes ‘All The Way’ To HBO As Lyndon B. Johnson

Bryan Cranston All The Way

How do you follow a multi-award-winning role as a calculating meth dealer in one of the world’s most talked-about shows? Head to Broadway as the President of the United States of course. Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston bagged numerous gongs for his central performance as Lyndon B. Johnson in All The Way and it comes as no surprise that HBO have now signed him for a TV movie adaptation, to be written by original playwright Robert Schenkkan.

Taking the Presidency in turbulent circumstances following the assassination of John F.Kennedy, Johnson became known as the architect of the “Great Society” programs, designed to bolster civil rights for the poor and ethnic minorities. All The Way joins the 36th inhabitant of the White House in his first year as he makes his mark against the backdrop of troubles in Vietnam.  Steven Spielberg will executive produce via Amblin Television, in association with Tale Told Productions and Moon Shot Entertainment.

From a beaten-down RV in the desert to the seat of power in the Free World – it’s been quite a journey for Cranston over the past few years, interrupted somewhat by a battle against a giant lizard in GODZILLA. Let’s see if this versatile character actor can leave the spectre of Walter White behind in this latest entry on his burgeoning CV.
