Sam Mendes’ superb production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a musical production that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing twice now. Since its debut on the West End stage exactly a year ago, the show has been packing in delighted audiences night after night. With a rotating young cast, who are simply superb, and near perfect accompaniment from Alex Jennings (Willy Wonka) and Barry James (Grandpa Joe), the show really is a must see if you’re in town with want of an unforgetable night out at the theatre.
I had the pleasure of joining in with the first birthday celebrations at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London just the other night, and had the pleasure of attending the sugar-filled after party right afterwards. Take a look at some fantastic footage from the evening below, and also some interviews with the awesome cast.
