Sylvester Stallone has never been one to let a good franchise go. After six ROCKY’s, four RAMBO’s and three EXPENDABLES’ (with a fourth planned), Sly certainly does like to milk a franchise for all it’s worth.
Having said that, Sly’s action credentials probably give him more right to franchise milking than a lot of Hollywood stars. With the EXPENDABLES series currently enjoying great success around the world, Stallone hasn’t decided to revisit any of his iconic roles for a little while now. The fourth film in the RAMBO franchise was released in 2008 to a mixed critical and commercial reception (although I believe it was the strongest entry since the original in 1982). Now a new report claims that the Italian Stallion has finally pressed the accelerator on the long-gestated fifth installment of the franchise. You can check out some details below:
‘With ‘Rambo V’ Sylvester Stallone returns in his iconic role. This time he goes up against a Mexican cartel. Stallone, who has also written the screenplay, describes the new Rambo as his version of ‘No Country for Old Men.’ Like the last film, ‘Rambo V’ is produced by Avi Lerner (“The Expendables 1-3′.
This plot (thankfully) sounds like a far cry from Stallone’s planned Sci-fi sequel from a few years ago that involved genetically altered animals….Let’s hope that this turns out well, but then again is it really necessary to begin with? let us know in the comments!
