Production on the Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul is already underway, but news reaches us this morning that the show has been delayed slightly to the first part of 2015, from its original November debut. However, to balance the disappointing news with some more postive stuff, the US cable channel did reveal that a second series is already commissioned (that’s a total of 23 episodes).
Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould, the geniuses behind Breaking Bad return for ‘Saul,’ while Bob Odenkirk reprises his sleazy Albequerque lawyer and the very popular Jonathan Banks returns as Mike Ehrmantraut.
“Production on ‘Better Call Saul’ is underway,” AMC president Charlie Collier said, “and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial ‘Saul’ order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes. When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of ‘Breaking Bad,’ there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on ‘Saul’ and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures.”
A first behind-the-scenes snap was also released with the news, which you can see above.
Better Call Saul will debut on Netflix platforms globally and on AMC in its native north America.
