As if one barmy high concept flick wasn’t enough, Kevin Costner looks likely to star in the sci-fi-tinged CRIMINAL from director Ariel Vromen. The leading man of 3 DAYS TO KILL could soon be seen as a murderer who takes part in a radical experiment to avoid prison. What will get him out of those potentially awkward soap-fetching situations? Why, having his brain replaced with that of a freshly-slain field operative of course!
The flatly-named script is by Douglas Cook and David Weisberg and amongst the producers are Chris Bender and J.C. Spink, who most recently brought us WE’RE THE MILLERS and horror comedy ZOMBEAVERS (think zombies, then beavers… Zom-Beavers!). Their eclectic involvement doesn’t give much clue as to the tone of the new film, but Vromen helmed THE ICEMAN, which indicates a certain level of straight-facedness. And in Costner the team may have found the perfect candidate to portray an upstanding brain in a wrong’un’s body.
