‘The Walking Dead’ Planned Until Season 12?

The Walking Dead

AMC’s The Walking Dead is constistently one of the highest rated shows on television, and it doesn’t look like it will be winding down any time soon. The post-apocalyptic zombie drama has taken viewers on an epic four year fight for survival that has (so far) involved a farm, a prison, a one eyed mad man, and a village of psychopaths.

The series will return later this year for its highly anticipated fifth season following the incredibly irritating cliff-hanger left at the conclusion of its fourth outing. It’s often the case with popular television shows that their producers plan extremely far ahead in order to keep the material fresh, coherent and structured. Well now it seems that this is certainly the case with The Walking Dead, as producer David Alpert has revealed that the series is planned until season 12! You can check out what he had to say below:

‘I happen to love working from source material, specifically because we have a pretty good idea of what season 10 is gonna be. We know where season 11 and 12…we have benchmarks and milestones for those seasons if we’re lucky enough to get there’.

It’s fantastic to hear that such a brilliantly engaging and well written series will (hopefully) be with us for many more years to come. Although I think it’s fair to say that if The Walking Dead does indeed reach season 11 or 12, I wouldn’t expect many of its current characters to be alive for it. The show currently stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Steven Yeun and Melissa McBride.
