Doctor Who and KIDULTHOOD star, Noel Clarke, returns to the director’s chair for his third feature behind the camera with Sci-fi thriller THE ANOMALY. Clarke takes the lead role as a soldier who finds he’s undergone some kind of experiment which can lead to him being controlled by somebody else? At least that’s the gist of this short and intriguing trailer which doesn’t seem to give too much away, mostly due to the speed of it all.
The landscapes look futuristic, the action looks competent, but will the cast make this sink or swim? It looks like an independent attempt at a blockbuster, so hopefully its limitations will add charm rather than detracting from the final film. Clarke is a fair enough director, with films such as ADULTHOOD and 4.3.2.1. under his belt, but there’s yet to be a defining moment that sets him apart from the pack.
THE ANOMALY is released 4th July in the UK with a US release yet to be determined. It stars Noel Clarke, Ian Somerhalder, Alexis Knap, Luke Hemsworth, and Brian Cox.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
