Watch: Brilliant Interviews From 1984 With Harold Ramis, Dan Ackroyd & Rick Moranis For ‘Ghostbusters’

Ghostbusters

GHOSTBUSTERS is without a doubt a generation-spanning favourite film and not only did it light up the careers of all the stars, and launch them onto a worldwide scene, it has also rightfully remained a defining moment in movie making.

Today we’ve got three amazing and insightful interviews from 1984 with Bobbie Wygant that are unique of their time with Dan Ackroyd, Rick Moranis and the sadly passed away Harold Ramis. The difference with these interviews is they’re not rushed or seeking soundbites, the interviewer Wygant is genuinely interested by how the film was made, how great it is and intrigued by their involvement and the whole process – something I think is missing from talking to celebrities and stars these days. Not that it doesn’t exist, of course, but I believe there’s still room for chats like this.

If you hadn’t heard already, we’re in the 30th Anniversary Year of GHOSTBUSTERS and I’m told this was the very first film I saw in the cinema in 1984, so it holds an extra special place and I still recall the fear and excitement of that opening scene in the library. Endlessly and forever; Brilliant.

Check out the interviews below, be aware that these are unedited so there is the occasional break in chat but overall it’s so good to get back to then and see what was being said. It’s also fascinating to hear about other projects happening at the time, their relationships on the set and those (still) early days of working with special effects as not everyone knew about them.

Long live GHOSTBUSTERS and the spirit – no pun intended – of Bill Murray, Dan Ayrkroyd, the late Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver. P.S. Check out some great anniversary prints over at the 1988 Gallery.
