According to scientists (and Morgan Freeman) humans only use 10% of their brain power. That might be a good thing if this new extended TV spot for Luc Besson’s LUCY is anything to go by…
Starring Scarlett Johansson, LUCY tells the story of a young lady used as a drug mule. After the drugs enter her blood stream she starts to find that her natural capabilities are accentuated, eventually giving her extraordinary powers. Of course, what better way to use those powers than to seek revenge on the people responsible for the whole mule business, giving Johansson an opportunity to kick some ass!
This TV spot reminds me of Christopher Nolan’s INCEPTION – lots of telekinesis, hyper-real landscapes and CGI effects. That could be a good or a bad thing…
LUCY, directed by Luc Besson, arrives in US cinemas from 25th July, with the UK following from 22nd August.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.

Luc Besson’s movies haven’t been a good thing in a loooooong time now and I’m quite baffled that ScarJo is participating in his “work.” Then again, she doesn’t have the habit of starring in bad movies so who knows, this could very well be cool. Some kind of Nikita with powers.
