Beauty and the Beast

With the massive success of MALEFICENT recently, Disney is working hard on their next live-action adaptation and we can report that DREAMGIRLS writer and director Bill Condon is set to direct a new version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST!

The original film from 1991 was hugely popular for Disney and was one of the few animated films to receive a ‘Best Picture’ nomination at the Academy Awards.  Disney has had a real flush of success recently with the live-action remakes of ALICE IN WONDERLAND and THE WIZARD OF OZ  spin-off OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.  There is also news of IRON MAN director Jon Favreau directing a new version of THE JUNGLE BOOK and THOR director Kenneth Branagh recreating the classic CINDERELLA.

Condon’s work on DREAMGIRLS and CHICAGO makes him a fantastic choice to direct such a well loved film, we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the news as we hear it.
